Why it’s Not Too Late to Start Learning About Sustainability
I spent a lot of energy these first two months of 2021, stewing about the topic for a blog post on sustainability. I had a vision of becoming a thought-leader right out of the gate. After over-deliberating, an old saying from early in my career struck me — “don’t let perfect get in the way of better.”
When I need to clear my mind I’ll go for a run and listen to podcasts, or throw some music on. Recently, while running, I was listening to How 2 Save a Planet, a podcast that asks the big questions: what do we need to do to solve the climate crisis, and how do we get it done? From this podcast, I realized, there is no right topic. As I learn and explore the field of sustainable development, I will make ripples of change through conversation and by connecting ideas.
I am on a mission to play my part in the protection of our planet and people. As someone who enjoys everything from nature’s expanse to nature’s minutiae, I feel an individual responsibility to act NOW. With the tools and information we already have at our finger tips, future generations will be holding us accountable for the decisions we make today.
So, in ending this post, I urge you to please challenge me on my commitment — let’s have a conversation and see what we can learn together.
